The W650 returned in 1999 as a retro-styled parallel twin, with the W1 of the 1960s as its styling reference. It has rounded engine cases and fins, a bevel-driven single overhead cam, electric starting with a kickstart backup and a front disc brake, combined with classic touches such as peashooter silencers and tank knee pads. The engine is modest in power but gives good low and mid-range pull.
